I’m a Milwaukee-based artist originally from the Chicagoland area, currently pursuing my BFA in Painting and Drawing and Art History at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. My creative body of work centers primarily on realism and takes inspiration from the world around me, whatever form that may take. The pieces I create use the mediums of both drawing and painting in a detailed and observational manner in order to express the various themes that my life and identity as an artist revolve around.
While I have experimented with a variety of artistic media, my primary ones are oil painting, watercolor, graphite drawing, and pen and ink drawing. Stylistically, I have found myself being influenced by artists such as August Lamm, Stephen Bauman, and Noah Verrier as well as many realist painters of the late nineteenth century. The way that these artists are able to capture what they see in such a unique way is very inspiring to me. For example, in my series of Mason Jar paintings, I used the challenge as an opportunity to approach the same subject matter with a variety of mediums and strategies.
As of right now, I have recently found a deep appreciation for self-portraits as a means of expressing one’s artistic identity, as can be seen in many of the pieces shown here. I am currently working on a series comprised entirely of self-portraits in oil that encompass the versatility and attention to detail that my body of work has come to exhibit.
